Boreal Conductors Inc. develops and manufactures High-Temperature Superconductors (HTS) tapes with increased robustness based on the Current Flow Diverter (CFD) concept. Our process allow to add the CFD concept in any (Re)BaCuO, where Re stands for "Rare earth", based tapes on the market, increasing its robustness against quench, which remains a critical issue for enabling large-scale use of HTS tape.

Boreal Conductors Inc. also offers specialized services (fabrication, characterization, testing and modeling) in applied electromagnetism and advanced materials thanks to its unique in-house expertise.

High-Temperature Superconductors tape

(Re)BaCuO based tape are High-Temperature Superconducting (HTS) tape that can delivery high power at low voltage without losses in a much smaller volume. They are expected to play a critical role in the decarbonization by transmitting high demands of clean electricity and generating high magnetic fields for magnetically confined fusion energy.

The technology commercialized by Boreal Conductors Inc. allows to boost the quench propagation thus reducing the probability of damaging superconducting devices. The quench issue is present in any superconducting based device and is more critical in (Re)BaCuO tape due to their unrivaled performance.
